This project involved the complete transformation of a Victorian school into a stylish residential property, showcasing a seamless blend of historic charm and contemporary design. The building was stripped back to its original shell, revealing its striking proportions and character features, before undergoing an extensive renovation to create a modern, functional living space. A lightweight structural steel and timber mezzanine level was introduced, adding an additional dimension to the home while preserving the openness of the original layout. The mezzanine houses two spacious bedrooms and an en-suite shower room, utilizing the soaring ceiling heights to create a sense of space and modern luxury.

The finishes were carefully selected to reflect the building’s industrial heritage while providing a contemporary aesthetic. Exposed steel beams and glazing elements frame the spaces, complemented by sleek tiled surfaces in the en-suite for a clean, modern look. Warm timber finishes bring a natural balance, adding texture and comfort to the interiors. This conversion preserves the character of the original Victorian school while introducing innovative design elements, resulting in a unique home that marries history and modernity in perfect harmony.
